Notes about Food & Dining at the Ducktrap Retreat:
We, the management of the Ducktrap Retreat, do not set limitations on food service. We have no restrictions on which businesses and caterers you can bring on to the property to support your event. We believe that by not limiting options, we provide a unique opportunity in Maine, in which a wedding couple can have unlimited choices in how they want to present their special day to their guests in a private resort atmosphere.
The Ducktrap Retreat has a small caterer's "prep" kitchen. This kitchen offers counter space, refrigeration, sinks, a microwave, and dishwasher - but no stove or oven. Because of the large number of caterers in the Midcoast area, guests are able to utilize catering services to supply their culinary needs. Any catering service you choose will need to prep the food prior to arriving on the Ducktrap Retreat property, or will need to bring in their own outdoor grilling equipment. This limits the menu offerings a caterer can offer at the property to either items that can be grilled, such as meats and substitute meats, or to prepared salads and o'dourves. Many guests choose to have lobsters bakes at the property as well, which is a great value option (and viewed in pictures above).
Most of the caterers in the Midcoast area have worked events at the Ducktrap Retreat and can review catering options with potential guests. We just like to ensure that potential guests understand that they are restricted only in the capabilities of the kitchen, but not in the choices and opportunities in hosting a great food event!
